Common illnesses Caused during Rainy Season

The rainy season is finally upon us. It seems to make the atmosphere a lot more fun and exciting for us after experiencing the scorching heat of summer. However, rainy season also brings on a lot of communicable diseases, like water –borne infectious diseases, Influenza , Leptospirosis, and Dengue.
Cold, flu, diarrheal deseases, hepatitis A, typhoid fever, and cholera are among the many air-borne, water –borne or food-borne diseases that are common during rainy days. All these diseases can inflict serious damage to their victims. Cholera is the most dangerous among all. If left untreated, a person suffering from cholera can die in a matter of hours.


These disease can be prevented
By the following measures:
Ø  Wearing rain gear such as umbrellas, raincoasts, and boots can help.

Ø  Stay away from a crowded and poorly ventilated places. Refrain from getting close contact with people who are ill.


Ø  Take a shower  after  being caught  in rain as it will help rid you of infectious matter brought by the rain.

Ø  Take a hot soup or at least drink a cup of hot coffee to neutralize your body temperature due to fluctuating weather  condition.

Ø  Do not wade or swim in floodwaters.

Ø  Drink plenty of water or liquid to avoid your mucous membrane  from drying up. Your mucous membrane is one of your primary defenses against invading organisms.
